Introduction
The wealth gap in America between White people and Black/African American people is large, and it is only getting bigger. Housing equity is a large part of how this came to be. This is a journey box for 5th Grade students to explore how housing came to be such a key part in the growing of the wealth gap, as well as a few other aspects that lend themselves to the wealth gap. The goal of this Journey Box is to give students a glimpse of the reality that racism didn't die with the end of slavery, and how this specific effect of slavery and racism can still be seen to this day.
